Profile |
|
With power steering, ABS as standard and an updated roomier cabin, the S4 was the first Esprit that could really be considered an everyday car.
Performance was on a par with the outgoing SE (60 in under 5 seconds and up to 280bhp from only 2.2 litres) but the styling had been updated for the 90s with a sleeker front spoiler, aerodynamic rear wing and new 17 inch OZ alloys. Handling was, as ever, exceptional but the downside was a jarring ride on all but the smoothest of surfaces.
With used prices of under £20,000, the S4 makes a fantastic second hand buy, if you can stomach the eye-watering reliability issues.
