Unofficially named after Ferrari's 1967 racing success at Daytona, the 365GTB/4 was created in response to the clamour that followed the recent launch of the Muira from Ferrari's greatest rivals Lamborghini.
Ferrari, however, decided to stay with the traditional front engine layout but nevertheless produced a car of exceptional poise and performance (the Daytona could lay claim to be the worlds fastest production car at 175mph).
The Daytona has proved to be one of Ferraris most desirable classics, due in no small part to the timeless Pininfarina styling. Its status was confirmed during the boom of the late 80's, where models changed hands for well into 6 figures, even higher for one of the 50 rare spider models. |
