Claiming to be the fastest accelerating production car of its time, the Vantage propelled it's near 2 ton weight to 60mph in just 5.2 seconds, continuing on to a near 170mph maximum! Aston Martin were coy about revealing power outputs at that time but considering the performance, around 400bhp would seem a reasonable figure.
Despite its great weight, the Vantage handled surprisingly well, thanks in part to the accurate feedback through the excellent power steering. 1978 saw a subtle rear spoiler added, followed in 1979 by bodywork styling tweaks and a revised interior trim. |
