Datsun (or Nissan as we now know them) launched the first of their 'Z-cars' back in 1966. The 300ZX actually first came along in 1984 but the modern 1990's version is a far superior proposition and could lay claim to be Japan's first supercar.
A 300bhp twin turbo V6 catapults the ZX to 60mph in under 6 seconds while the 4-wheel steering and multi-link suspension ensure that roadholding is of the highest order. The interior features a wide range of electrical goodies while the lift out targa roof panels offers simple open air motoring.
Although no longer in production, used car prices make the 300ZX a superb performance bargain, and reliability is up to the usual excellent Japanese standards.
