  Bugatti EB110  (1991 - 1995)

Profile

The EB110 heralded the return of a classic name from the history of sports cars, Bugatti. Named to represent 110 years since founder Ettore Bugatti's birth, the EB110 was a car of stunning presence and performance.

Two versions were available, the GT with 553bhp and the supersport SS, with an incredible 611 bhp giving a verified top speed of 218mph, claiming to be the worlds fastest car at that time (the McLaren F1's 231mph was 'unofficial'). Specification included a 6-speed gearbox, carbon fibre chassis and quad turbos.

After just 118 examples were built, it looked like the fairytale was going to have an unhappy ending, with the overambitious Bugatti going bankrupt in 1995. However, VW stepped in and rescued the famous marque in 1998, with the promise of new models to come.
