Profile |
|
Lotus went back to their original philosophy of performance through light weight with the Elise, the spiritual successor to the Seven.
Exceptional handling is the result thanks to an innovative, lightweight Aluminium chassis (a production car first). The rather spartan interior also helps to keep the weight down and precision VARI mouldings give it a quality feel. The Elise proved so popular at launch that order books were full for 18 months! Early models in fact appreciated in value for a time until supply eventually caught up.
The base model has since been supplemented with a string of more powerful models like the 111S, Sport 135, Sport 160 and ultimately the Sport 190. The Elise because the Elise S2 in 2001 with a hugely successful cosmetic and handling upgrade.
