Ruf are more than just a tuner of Porsches, they modify the base 911 so extensively that the German government deems their creations to be a new car. The CTR-2 begins with a Porsche 993. The Turbos are then boosted and the engine re-mapped to give a whopping 580 bhp from just 3.6 litres. Suspension is also strengthened to handle the hugely uprated power and powerful carbon fiber brakes are added. Bodywork is also restyled, with a purposeful 959 style wrap over rear spoiler and aggressive side skirts.
Acceleration is ferocious with 100mph from standstill coming up in just 7.9 sec. However, Ruf cars have always been about top speed and the CTR-2 is definitely no exception. How does 217mph flat out sound! A production run of just 18 cars (although some sources quote 27) makes this one of the most highly prized 911s around.
