Only 200 of this, the ultimate incarnation of the legendary Quattro were produced, all in left hand drive. 200 being the minimum required for Group B homologation.
The Sport Quattro debuted at the 1983 Frankfurt show, three years after the standard Quattro had changed sports cars forever with the introduction of 4-wheel drive for the road. The Sport was no looker but was one of the first road cars to make use of lightweight composites in its construction.
Performance was exceptional for the time with 60mph from standstill in under 5 seconds. Although that was put in perspective by the 600bhp rally version which reached the same speed in under 3 seconds!
