Profile |
|
The much anticipated LT variant of the already superfast McLaren 720S arrived in 2020 in the form of the 765LT.
While clearly based on the 720S, the LT also inherits kit from the Senna. 80Kg has been shed from the 720S' kerb weight, and with a near 50hp power increase, acceleration is all but a match for the considerably more expensive Senna (in fact independent tests have yielded faster figures, such as a 9.4 sec stock standing quarter).
A big plus for the 765LT is that it's the first McLaren that actually sounds as good as it drives.
Bodywork carries more aero, but considering it carries the LT (Longtail) moniker, it's only a mere 60mm longer than the 720S. Ingress and egress is a pain, but that's the price you pay for having track ready Senna bucket seats.
At £280k in the UK, the 765LT is a hefty £70k pricier than a 720S. Is it worth the difference? You'll have to put that question to the 765 very lucky owners.
