Profile |
|
Renowned Italian coachbuilders Ares have launched the Panther ProjettoUno, a homage to the classic De Tomaso Pantera of the 1970s.
Based on a Lamborghini Huracan, the Panther's V10 kicks out 650hp for 0-60mph in 3 sec and a 200mph+ max. Drive is to all four wheels, through a bespoke 7-speed dual clutch transmission.
It clearly has echoes of the original Pantera, but has been modernised with large alloys, carbon bodywork, Capristo exhaust and state of the art interior functionality. It has modern safety standards too, obtaining TÜV approval.
Just 21 Panthers will be built from 2021. Not cheap though. At around £461k, this puts it right up there with established hypercars like the Ferrari SF90. Will rarity win out over the establishment? Seems so, as there are many more manufacturers now competing in this retro-reimaging market for the ultra wealthy.
