Somehow Toyota have improved upon the universally praised GT86, with the 2022 launch of the awesome 'Gazoo Racing' GR86.
Power from the naturally aspirated Subaru sourced 2.4 litre is up 31bhp on the old GT86, addressing the GT's weak acceleration criticism. 0-60mph now takes 6 seconds flat.
Handling, the GR86's strongpoint, is enhanced by stiffened suspension and adoption of new Michelin Pilot Sport tyres.
The exterior design is broadly similar to its predecessor, save for the larger 18 inch alloys. The no-frills interior features an 8 inch infotainment display, but at least offers Apple Carplay and Android Auto.
With an asking price of just £30k in the UK, the whole allocation was sold out within hours of launch. Moves on from the already fantastic GT86, to become class leader in the affordable sports car market.
