Profile |
|
The first Maserati to be designed by Bertone, the Khamsin was first shown as a prototype at the 1972 Turin Motor Show. Production began in 1974, which coincided with a change of ownership for Maserati from Citroen to De Tomaso. The Citroen influence was still there however, as the Khamsin featured their trademark hydraulically assisted steering, clutch and brakes, which by all accounts take some getting used to!
The Khamsin was certainly a good looker and strong performer but their were nagging doubts over build quality. This meant that only 420 were built during it's 9 year production run.
