BMW introduced the second generation M4 in 2021, available as both a coupe (G82) and a convertible (G83), with optional XDrive 4WD.
The 'standard' M4 is not available in the UK, so you start with the 'Competition' with it's in-line 6 producing 503bhp and 479 ft/lbs of torque. Acceleration to 60mph is now under 3.5 seconds, while top speed is pushing 180mph.
Big change is that transmission is now through an auto box. Firtunately, technology has moved on so rapidly, that this box is virtually on a par with the DCT of the previous F82 version.
You can't talk about the M4's design without addressing the contoversial new kidney grilles. To be honest, the more you see them, the more you get used to them.
The M4 Competition retails from £76k in the UK, although options can push this perilously close to the £100k mark.
