2021 saw the introduction of BMW's sixth generation M3, available as either a saloon (G80) or for the first time an estate (G81) known as the 'Touring'.
As with the M4, the M3 is only available in the UK in 'Competition' format. Powered by the S58 straight-6 turbo engine (as in the M4), transmission is either RWD or 4WD if you spec the optional Xdrive system. Power and torque are an impressive 503bhp and 479 ft/lbs respectively. Top speed is the ubiquitous 155mph as standard, or a whopping 180mph when equipped with the 'M Drivers' package. 0-60mph is as low as 3.3 sec, with the XDrive fitted.
Handling is remarkable, despite weighing in at a not inconsiderable 1800kg.
Price is £78k in the UK. A fraction up on the M4, but you do get two more doors!
