Profile

Introduced at the 1977 Turin auto show, the Jaguar Ascot was Bertone's take on more contemporary (at the time) XJ-S.

Gandini's wedge restyle was fashioned in Aluminium and originally painted in white (then subsequently resprayed to it's current Gold hue). The coupe retained the XJ-S 2+2 layout, but with a shortened wheelbase and more importantly, an opening rear hatchback.

Jaguar's 5.3 litre V12 provided around 300hp, transmitted through an automatic gearbox.

The Ascot remained in Bertone's possession until bankruptcy forced the company to sell off it's assets in 2014. The car now resides in the Bertone Collection at the Volandia museum in Italy.
