2019 saw Mercedes introduce the world's most powerful ICE hot hatch, in the form of the A45S.
The A45S' 4-cyl engine pushes out over 420hp and with it's 8-speed dual clutch, hits 60mph from rest in well under 4 seconds, incredible figures for a hot hatch. Top speed is 170mph (with the AMG Driver's package).
Handling from the 4WD system is superb, with a compliant and engaging chassis. There's also multiple selectable driving modes to suit your mood.
The A45S looks the partt as well, thanks to it's aggressive aero kit and functional roof spoiler. The high quality interior features black leather trim highlighted in yellow, ambient lighting, twin digital displays, and a class leading Burmeister sound system.
The A45S retails at a hefty £63k in the UK, a considerable premium over it's similarly quick, but not as powerful or luxurious, rivals.
The A45 received a mild facelift in 2023.
