Chinese electric car manufacturer BYD introduced the Seal coupe in 2024, available in two specifications ('Design' and 'Excellence') the later coming with 4WD and enhanced performance.
The Seal's 530 PS twin electric motors allow for an impressive 3.8sec 0-100kmh time, despite weighing in at over 2000kg, but top speed is a paltry 111mph. Economy wise, the 82.5 kWh battery provides a range of around 350 miles at around 3.9 miles/kWh, with charging from 10%-80% in as little as 37 minutes.
The Seal is a stylish 4 door coupe, while on the inside, it comes with all the modern technology you could ever wish for, including advanced driver assistance features and a trick rotatable infotainment screen, coupled with a luxury fit and finish that belies it's price.
At well under £50k for the Excellence version, the PYD represents amazing value for money considering it's spec and performance. A real rival for the Tesla Model 3 and Polestar's 2.
