The 2025 track honed 296 Speciale is the most powerful RWD Ferrari yet produced.
Enhancing the already excellent 296, Ferrari have boosted power to the twin-turbo V6 by 50bhp and reduced weight by 132 lbs, to just over 3100 lbs (dry). This shaves a few tenths from the acceleration times, but more importantly makes it a more agile handler. It's 2.5sec faster than the 296 around Fiorano.
The Speciale looks dissapointingly similar to the standard 296, with only subtle bodywork enhancements. Perhaps this is due to Ferrari's assertion that the Speciale is foremost a road car, not an all out track tool, but the aero still delivers a 20% increase in downforce over the 296.
It is a remarkable car, but priced at around £350k in the UK, its not far off £100k more expensive than the 296. Considering it's not a limited numbers special, this seems a hard sell over the already brilliant 296.
