After a two year gap following the introduction of the new Carrera, 1991 saw the launch of the top of the range 964 Turbo. Capacity initially remained at 3.3 litres but the new model finally received the 5-speed box that the Turbo had deserved for so long. A little turbo lag still remained but once on boost the flood of acceleration was unmatched.
Capacity increased to 3.6 litres in 1993 giving 360bhp and a top speed of 175mph. Acceleration was simply stunning. A rear mounted engine meant for superb traction off the line so 60mph now arrived in about 4.5seconds with 100mph following in a mere 10.5sec.
