Yangwang, the performance division of the Chinese BYD company, shattered the production car top speed record with an astounding 308mph from the 2025 U9 Xtreme.
The U9's quad electric motors now output a staggering 3000hp - more than double the output of the 'standard' U9. The motors spin all the way up to 30000rpm and utilise the world’s first series produced 1200V platform and BYD’s innovative Blade Battery technology.
Real-time four wheel torque vectoring, active suspension and semislick tyres played a large part in the Xtreme's impressive 6:59 Nurburgring lap - a record for a series electric car.
Just 30 examples of the Xtreme will be built, at an as yet undisclosed price.
