Revealed at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show, the 3rd generation 981 Boxster was the last to feature the legendary 3 litre flat six, before Porsche switched to 4-cyl turbos for the 718.
This engine produced around 315hp, with 0-60mph in just 4.5sec and a 176mph max, when coupled with the optional Sport Chrono package and excellent PDK transmission (although a manual option was still available).
Controvertially, the 981 came with electric steering, but the concensus was that it didn't negatively effect the car in the way other manufacturers systems did.
The restyled bodywork features a fully electric canvas roof, uprated lighting and more up to date infotainment.
The 981 retailed in the UK for £48k + options (of which there were many) putting it head to head with the Merc SLK, BMW Z4 and Audi's TT RS convertible.
