1989 saw the first major restyling of the now 26 year old 911 design in the form of the 964 Carrera. The whole body took on a more integrated appearance with wrap round bumpers and a self raising rear spoiler considerable helping aerodynamics. Engine capacity was up to the now familiar 3.6 litres with a corresponding power increase to 250bhp.
The 2 wheel drive 964 Carrera 2 was later joined by the 4 wheel drive Carrera 4 using the system developed in the legendary 959. Thanks to the new system acceleration was more vivid than ever before with 100mph coming up in under 13 seconds from rest.
