Profile |
|
The Porsche 968 replaced the 10 year old 944 in 1991. While retaining the basic appearance of its predecessor, the new car gained enhanced performance due to it's new Variable Valve Timing engine. VVT boosted the same 3L engine from the 944 to over 240bhp enabling the 968 to exceed 155mph.
1993 saw the introduction of the lightweight 'Club Sport' version which arrived to critical acclaim for its poise and handling. However, even this wasn't enough to persuade customers to purchase a car that was perceived to be past it's time. And so, like it's stablemate the 928, the 968 was discontinued in 1995.
