Profile |
|
The very first RX7 arrived in 1978, with the Mark II following in 1987, but it was the stylish Mark III that catapulted Mazda into the supercar league.
Mazda pioneered the use of the RX-7's unique rotary engine, super smooth but ultimately prone to premature wear. Nevertheless it was capable of powering the RX-7 to well over 150mph with acceleration to 60mph in around 6 seconds.
Despite it's obvious capabilities, the RX-7 never really caught on in the UK and was withdrawn in 1996, although it is still available in Japan. A new version has been proposed but nothing has been finalised as yet.
