BMW's M Roadster is based on the original 1995 Z3 convertible which gained mass exposure as James Bond's car in 'Goldeneye'. The Z3 was often criticised for its lack of power so BMW addressed this with the launch of the Z3M. The motorsport Z3 was the beneficiary of the M3's superb 321bhp engine and answered any remaining performance criticisms.
Now known as the M Roadster, the latest model again receives the current generation M3's high revving power plant promising even greater performance - in the right hands!
The coupe version of the M Roadster was introduced to mixed reactions in 1998. A powerful engine meant for electric performance while the stiffened coupe body meant the excellent handling was on another level to the M Roadster, but then there were the looks! The Coupe had the kind of appearance that you either love or hate, with most observers being on the later side.
