Famous the world over for it's appearance as James Bond's car in 'The World is Not Enough', the Z8 was acclaimed as BMW's fastest accelerating road car to date.
The Z8 received the M5's mighty 400bhp powerplant enabling it to jump from 0-60mph in just 4.7 seconds and onto a limited top speed of 155mph (an estimated 180mph was the unrestricted maximum). The attractive body housed a variety of electronic gadgetry to aid performance, such as ASR traction control, DSC stability control and even CBC cornering brake control.
Unfortunately these devices proved intrusive and traction was not up to the power of the V8. Coupled with a sky high price of over £85,000 the Z8 proved to be somewhat of a disappointment.
