  Ariel Atom  (2000 - 2003)

Profile

190bhp may not sound like much of a power output these days, but when it only has to move 500kg you have the makings of an exciting sports car, the unique Ariel Atom.

An almost total absence of body panels accounts for the appropriately named Atom's light weight. Chassis, driver's cabin and suspension components are all visible to the outside world. The ubiquitous Rover k-series provides power while suspension and handling can be tweaked for fast road or track to the customer's own requirements.

Ariel seem to have produced a true performance rival to Caterham and Westfield at a bargain price.
