Born out of Alfa's legendary T33 racer, the stunning T33 Stradale arguably represents Alfa Romeo's sole entry into the ranks of the supercar (until the arrival of the 8C).
The timeless aluminium bodywork was sculpted by Scaglione. Each car is different, but all featured exotic styling features such as gull-wing doors.
Sitting on a 'H' shaped tubular steel chassis, the T33 was powered by a detuned V8 from the race car, still producing a healthy 230bhp. Performance was on a par with any supercar of the day, with 0-60mph in an impressive 5.4 seconds, then on to a genuine 161mph top speed.
Just 18 of these highly desirable coupes were made (although some sources say 14), their exclusivity reflected in the muti-million dollar asking price demanded for mint examples. Ironic when you consider that Alfa struggled to sell the (admittedly expensive) T33 at the time, with several unused chassis being sent to design houses such as Bertone and Pininfarina instead.
