Based on the Enzo of parent company Ferrari, the MC12 signals Maserati's first step into the hypercar league. Produced in tandem with the controversial GT series race car, the road going MC12 shares the track version's carbon fibre tub and 6-pot Brembo brakes but gains a designer leather interior and electric suspension lift to help it survive on public roads.
Power is provided by a detuned version of stablemate Enzo's mighty V12, with power cut back to 'just' 622bhp. However, this doesn't seem to blunt performance much, as 0-200khm is despatched in under 10 seconds. Just 50 will be built at an estimated cost of £400k. |
