The new fourth generation E60 BMW M5 features a Formula 1 style 8000rpm V10 with no less than 500bhp - a remarkable achievement considering that it's engine is only slightly larger than it’s predecessor's but outputs over 100 bhp more.
Performance is naturally up on the old M5 with 200kmh arriving from rest in just 14 seconds, now almost a match for the brutal V12 twin turbos from Mercedes. Top speed is a limited 155mph, but a derestricted 205mph has been achieved! Handling was always the M5's forte, so the new model gets improved traction and stability control plus a LSD to complement it's perfect 50:50 weight distribution. New enhancements such as an electronic clutch, driver selectable power output and a 7-speed gearshift with no less than 11 modes are impressive features.
