Profile |

The Strada 5300 was the brainchild of Giotto Bizzarrini, a major figure in the formative years of Italian supercar engineering having worked on the Ferrari 250GTO and Lamborghini 350GT in the early 1960s.
Initially designed by a young Giugiaro at Bertone, the Strada is based upon the Iso Grifo race car, complete with it's powerful Chevrolet V8. The engine is front mounted but pushed way behind the front axle for mid-engine like weight distribution, a trend currently being repeated in supercars such as the Merc SLR.
Unfortunately Bizzarrini went into liquidation in 1967 with only 100 or so Stradas being produced. They are however, now worth up to £150,000 on the classic car market.
