Profile

The Callaway Corvette Sledgehammer laid claim to be the world's fastest road car with an amazing top speed of over 254mph! Twin turbos helped kick out a mighty 898bhp for that record run (although it was achieved using racing fuel). The heavily modified Corvette C4 featured what was at the time, state of the art aerodynamics, essential to keep the Sledgehammer stuck to the road at over 250mph. A custom roll cage was fitted to what was otherwise a stock C4 interior.

The Sledgehammer was auctioned for over $200k back in 2004, then failed to sell for the $1 million asking price in 2014.

A fully road legal (detuned) version was produced, offering a very attractive alternative to Chevrolet's own ZR1.
