Profile

Hot on the heels of the new GT3 comes Porsche's latest track icon the GT3 RS. Featuring such kit as an integral roll cage, fire extinguisher, 6-point harness and the curiously optional ceramic brakes, the RS is every bit the trackday warrior. It also looks the part, with the glorious bodywork of the latest 997 along with an aggressive carbonfibre rear wing.

However, Porsche may have a problem here. The 'standard' GT3 is such a revelation that the £14k premium required for the RS seems a little steep. Straight line performance is near identical, while the RS shaves just a couple of seconds off the GT3's Nurburgring lap times. But if you want the ultimate, and are happy with lurid orange, green or black livery then this is the hardcore 911 of choice.
