Pitched as a rival to Porsche's 997 GT3 RS and Ferrari's forthcoming 430 Challenge Stradale, Lamborghini's Gallardo Superleggera looks like a highly desirable piece of kit.

As if the standard Gallardo is not special enough, the lightweight Superleggera gains a useful 10bhp and loses an even more useful 200kg sending it's power to weight ratio spiralling to a massive 400bhp/ton. The result is a sub 4 second 0-60mph sprint but top speed remains at a mere 196mph. Racing touches abound, with extensive use of carbonfibre, a rear wing, roll cage and lightweight seats, while carbon ceramic brakes complete the trackday picture.

The Superleggera is yours for around £145,000. Around the same price as a 430 Challenge but a whopping £50k more than the class leading Porsche GT3 RS. You pays your money and takes your choice!
