Celebrating the original SLR's victory in the 1955 'Mille Miglia' (or perhaps In response to the threat from Ferrari's new 599), Mercedes have announced the limited edition SLR McLaren 722. A marginal power increase and a 44kg weight drop sees the already superfast SLR rocket to 200kmh in just over 10 seconds on it's way to a new 210mph maximum. The biggest gains however are in the handling department. The 722 despatches a lap of the Nurburgring 10 seconds quicker than the 'standard' SLR, thanks to lowered suspension, bigger brakes and a modified front spoiler.

Just 150 will be made at £350,000 a time. Though considering the potency of it's Maranello rival, in all aspects except rarity, it simply doesn't represent good value for money.
