The world's first electric sportscar has arrived in the form of the Venturi Fetish. A powerful electric motor, spinning to over 14000rpm, provides a creditable 241bhp. However it's the torque that grabs the headlines. Just 162 lbft, but it's all available instantly, at any revs. This accounts for the excellent 4.4sec sprint to 60mph, although the fetish soon runs out of steam with a paltry 106mph max.
The Fetish comes as a convertible with scissor action doors for maximum possibility. But Venturi haven't forgotten practicality as the 100 Lithium-ion batteries allow an excellent 300 miles between charges, coupled with a rapid recharge facility.
Just 25 of these green supercars will be produced, which is probably just as well because here's the bad news - they will cost their prospective owners a staggering £220000 each (was £370k at launch!)
The Fetish gained a more powerful 295bhp engine in 2011, increasing top speed to 124mph and dropping the 0-60mph time to 4 seconds dead.
