Profile |

Following the phenomenal success of the Elise, Lotus have long needed a new model to reinvigorate their image in a crowded sports coupe arena and perhaps to take the marque into a higher market sector. The disappointing Europa didn't fit the bill so expectations were high for the 2009 Evora. Lotus delivered!
The Evora shows us that, for many, a drivers car is not all about huge performance figures (276bhp and a 5 sec 0-60mph are modest by today’s standards) but about accessible, enjoyable handling, with which the Evora sets a huge new benchmark. Indeed, it’s track times belie it’s performance figures, embarrassing far more expensive supercars with its blend of cornering grip and steering feel.
While it still may not have the rock solid quality of a Cayman, the Evora is now a seriously desirable contender in the £40k sports coupe sector.
