Profile |

The spiritual successor to the GT40, Ford's 1995 GT90 concept led the way in a new wave of 'edge' sports car designs.
It's looks were more than matched by it's phenomenal potential performance. Quad turbochargers pushed out 720bhp from it's mid-engined Roush 6 litre V12 through a Ricardo 5-speed manual box. Ford predicted 0-60mph in 3.1 sec and a potential top speed of over 230mph, vying with the McLaren F1 for world's fastest car.
Based on the chassis of Jaguar's XJ220, the GT90's angular white bodywork and dark glass canopy cut a striking, if not beautiful, stance. Ford even had to fit ceramic tiles around the exhaust for fear of the body panels melting.
After finishing duty as a show car, the GT90 was sold and now resides in the Hajek Motorsports Museum in Oklahoma.
