The Hennessey Venom GT is now (unofficially) the worlds fastest production car, with a stunning top speed of 270mph. The official 268mph record remains with Bugatti, but it is surely only a matter of time before the Venom completes a 2-way run to seal the deal.
Taking it's roots from the Lotus Exige, Hennessey shoe horn in a gargantuan 1250bhp 7-litre V8, which also puts out a mind numbing 1150 lbft of torque. The whole package weighs in at just 2700 lbs, producing record breaking acceleration - an official record 0-300kmh sprint of 13.6 sec being the stand out figure.
It may lack the sophistication of it's european rivals, but there's no doubting the raw power and presence of this American missile, and at around £750k it is half the cost of it's peers.
Hennessey grabbed the title of the world's fastest convertible with a 266mph run in the Venom GT Spider in 2016, before production ceased in 2017.
