The futuristic 250 P5 concept was launched at the 1968 Geneva Auto Show.
The P5 either utilised a Ferrari 330 P3/4 semi-monocoque or a customised Dino chassis (this is still in dispute), and was powered by no less than a 3-litre V12 Formula One engine producing around 400hp at 10500 rpm, although it's unclear if the car ever moved under it's own power.
Styled by Leonardo Fioravanti at Pininfarina, the P5 was comissioned to explore the possibilites of future Ferrari design. Standout features include a concave roof, gull-wing doors, rear horizontal slats and the distinctive full-width headlight cluster.
After the 1968 Turin show, the P5's bodywork was stripped and modified to become the Alfa Romeo 33/2 Coupe Speciale concept - due to the fact that Enzo Ferrari likened the design to a suppository!
The bare 250 chassis and engine was subsequently purchased by Japanaese collecter Shiro Kosaka, who had the original bodywork restored by Pininfarina. The car was shown at the prestigious Passione Engadina in 2017.
