Pitched as a cut down CLS, Mercedes' CLA has now been given the AMG treatment, making this humble four seater a true performance car in it's own right.
Launch control and 4-wheel drive equate to excellent traction. It may only have 4 cylinders, but 60mph is reached from rest in under 5 seconds, with a limited 155mph top speed. For a car with a combined fuel economy of 41mpg, these are seriously impressive figures.
The CLA is a little pricey at over £40k, but you do get very reasonable economy and emissions, with all the real world performance you are ever likely to need. This could signal a significant change in what we used to consider to be a 'real' AMG performance car.
