Profile |
|
The timeless Toyota 2000GT is considered by many to be Japan's first supercar.
This highly desirable coupe (James Bond's convertible was a one off) was actually constructed by Yamaha. The award winning styling features gorgeous E-type style sweeping curves, a luxury wood and leather interior and a 2 litre straight 6 engine producing 150bhp for sporting performance.
Just 351 examples were produced, partially explaining why values have soared to such extraordinarily high levels. Recent 2000GTs have changed hands for well over a million dollars, making the 2000GT the most valuable Japanese car of all time. Amazing when considering that a new one cost just $6800 in 1968, indeed Toyota lost money on every 2000GT they sold!
