The gorgeous Asterion concept was conceived as a testbed to showcase Lamborghini's prowess with hybrid solutions. Constructed from exotic meterials such as aluminium, carbon fibre and titanium, the Asterion was pitched as a GT rather than an all out hypercar in the mould of the Porsche 918.
Hybrid (PHEV) technology mated a conventional 600bhp engine with three 100bhp electric motors, giving a whopping grand total of almost 900bhp. This impressive power figure was delivered to all four wheels via a superquick 7-speed dual clutch transmission, resulting in a sub 3 second sprint to 60mph, on its way to a near 200mph maximum. A very impressive 69 mpg and emissions of just 98 g/Km CO2 completed the hybrid picture.
The £350k Asterion was due to join the Lamborghini road car line up in 2017/18, but has now been held back (and possibly withdrawn) in favour of the forthcoming Urus SUV.
