Sbarro, the Swiss manufacturer of bespoke, short run production cars, classic replicas and concepts, bought us the ultimate 1980s 'wedge' design in the form of the amazing Challenge supercar.
Three versions were produced during the mid to late 80s, all based on Porsche's 911 Carrera. Challenge 1 had a twin turbo Merc V8, Challenge 2 was powered by a 300bhp Porsche Turbo unit, while Challenge III boosted the flat-6 to 400bhp. Top speed for all models was around the 180mph mark.
The dramatic exterior styling, with it's Countach like upward hinged doors, boasted an ultra low drag co-efficient of just 0.26. It also featured some amazing kit for a mid-1980s car, including enormous 19 inch wheels, TV screen, a reversing camera and even a windscreen that slides forward to reveal a sunroof.
Just 10 were produced from 1985-1988, and although all customised in various ways, could be purchased for around £250000.
