Profile

The 991 generation Carrera offers a bewildering choice of several different models, including the Carrera 2, Carrera 2S, Carrera 4, Carrera 4S, Carrera GTS, Carrera Cabriolet, Carrera Targa, GT3, GT3 RS, Turbo and Turbo S - not to mention the speculated 911R, GT2 and GT2 RS! The base Carrera 2 and 4 models come with 2WD or 4WD respectively, and a 350hp flat 6. The 'S' models add wider bodywork and a further 50hp from a 3.8 litre engine. Both Carrera 2 and Carrera 4 models are available as coupes or convertibles, plus the Carrera 4 also offers a Targa roofed model (SupercarWorld.com cover the Turbo, GTS and GT3 models separately). As with all Porsches, standing start acceleration is epic, with the Carrera 4S breaking the 4 second barrier from 0-60mph, topping out at around 190mph.

With the 991.2 generation adopting turbos across the range, the first generation 991 looks like it will be the last of the old school (read: more aurally exciting) 911s.
