The astounding NIO EP9 may well be the world's fastest electric car, thanks to technology developed from parent company NextEV's Formula E racecar.
Four electric motors produce a huge 1 Megawatt (1341bhp) of power. Astounding though the acceleration figures are (0-100kmh in 2.7sec, 0-200kmh in 7.1sec) the EP9 is not just about straight line performance. Handling is at the very highest level too, as demonstrated by the unbelievable 6 min 45 sec Nurburgring lap time, 13 seconds ahead of the legendary Porsche 918. An aerodynamically generated 24,000 Newtons of downforce and 3g cornering may have something to do with this! NIO claim a range of 265 miles, with an impressive 45 minute recharge time.
Just six of these aggressively styled green hypercars were to be produced, with an additional 10 announded soon after, priced at around £2.5m!
