Following on from the GT12, Aston have introduced the equally hardcore Vantage GT8 for a limited run of 150 units.
Inspired by the GTE race car, the GT8 features a lightweight, carbon fibre body with honed aerodynamics. The optional Aero pack adds an enhanced front splitter and striking rear wing. Further options include ultra lightweight magnesium alloys shod with grippy Michelin Pilot Sport Cup tyres. A total of 100 kg is shed from the standard Vantage, despite the retention of air conditioning.
Disappointingly, only 10hbp extra is extracted from the Vantage's 4.7 litre V8 and it is a little lacking in the torque department, but that is more than made up for by the amazing exhaust note - a contender for the best sounding engine available today!
All 150 examples have been eagerly snapped up for the not unreasonable price of £165k (a significant saving over the GT12). This could be the last of the original generation Vantage before next year's replacement model.
