For those who long to take their AMG GT onto the track, Mercedes have introduced the race inspired GTR, to rival the likes of Porsche's 911 GT3 RS.
A new exhaust system and enhanced turbos release an extra 74bhp from the 4-litre V8 in the GTS. This shaves a few thenths from acceleration times and adds 5mph top speed, but the real difference is in the handling. Manually adjustable suspension, electronic dampers and rear differential (inspired by the GT3 race car) bestow the GTR with epic handling characteristics. Not forgetting the 4-wheel steering for added stability. An aggressive wide mouthed bodykit with active spoilers complete the menacing picture, sitting 5 inches wider than the GTS.
With deliveries starting mid-2017, prices are from £143,000 in the UK. Add some tasty options like carbon ceramic brakes, and you're looking at around £160k for a well specced example - over £60k up on the GTS!
