Profile |
|
The new Rolls Royce Dawn joins the Phantom drophead as one of the most luxurious convertibles on the market.
Although based on the Wraith platform, the Dawn takes it's power from the Ghost saloon's twin-turbo V12, with 563bhp and 575 lbft of torque. The Dawn was designed to waft four adults along in open-topped luxury, rather than the more sporting character of the 2+2 Wraith.
The interior is naturally of the finest quality, but perhaps there is still a hint of the underlying BMW 7-series technology in some of the switchgear and instrumentation. This cetainly isn't a bad thing, but not quite as bespoke as one might expect.
At £264000, the Dawn is an expensive car. It is certainly desirable, but asks a large premium over some similarly capable luxury saloons. But then there's the badge, and for some, nothing else will do.
