Vanda Electronics hopes to become Singapore's first supercar manufacturer with the all electric Dendrobium concept, launched to the public at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show.
The Dendrobium (named after an exotic orchid) is built in the UK in conjunction with Williams Advanced Engineering, using technology from their Formula 'e' race car. The car is still in concept form and so is powered by a temporary electric motor. Vanda have set eventual performance targets of 0-60mph in 2.7sec and a 200mph maximum speed.
The unique bodywork design features rear hinged, upward tilting doors and a low drag 'teardrop' central compartment. The rear view shows exposed suspension components and a dramatic wrap around rear light section.
If reaction is favourable, Vanda hope to go into limited production from 2019 at a price of around £1m. Whether the unique styling features will find their way onto the road car, is up for debate.
